Corporate and Social Responsibility

At Accord Healthcare, we hold ourselves to the highest standards and believe in full transparency within our team and with our customers. For that reason, our production process includes many rigorous practices and procedures to ensure the end result is the best it can possibly be. Take a look at our key features below.

Social Responsibility: Features

Strong and Highly Qualified Team

Accord is a multinational company which employs over 11,000 people. We have a diverse workforce, throughout which cultural exchange and inclusiveness is encouraged.
Our professional and qualified staff interact in accordance with our Code of Conduct, Compliance Policy and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives.
We at Accord feel that while important, the EHS program is only one facet of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. Our comprehensive CSR program incorporates:

  • Accord’s EHS initiatives

  • Accord’s community contributions

  • Accord’s commitment to its employees

  • Accord’s contribution to the safety of healthcare practitioners and patients

Environmental

Commitment

Accord’s environmental contribution starts in-house and incorporates different environmental practices and actions such as tree planting and environmental impact minimisation. For example, we derive a significant part of our manufacturing energy requirements from renewable energy resources including two wind farms generating a capacity of 1.25 MW each.
As a drug manufacturer, we are committed to ensuring our manufacturing facilities continuously work towards reducing their impact on the environment.
We adhere to the provisions of the Consolidated Consent and Authorisation of the Gujarat Pollution Control Board for the following environmental acts & rules:

  • Water: Prevention and Control of Pollution

  • Air: Prevention and Control of Pollution

  • Hazardous Waste: Management, Handling & Transportation

Social Contribution

We contribute to society by supporting various NGO’s in selected programs, participating in medical camps, contributing to cancer patient associations and consistently reaching out beyond the boundaries of our company to touch the communities in which we work.
Some of our community initiatives are:

  • Medical check-up camps in villages

  • Free medicines and medical camps in regions affected by natural disasters

  • School building extension/ renovation in villages

  • Employee blood donation and fund raising to support cancer patient associations

  • Support of childhood education initiatives

Commitment to Safety of Healthcare Professionals & Patients

Accord puts user safety at the heart of our product offering and believes in enriching lives by providing innovative high quality medicines. We characterise these as either preventative or protective measures, designed to prevent occupational (pharmacy) exposure to cytotoxic residues.
Central to our preventative measures is PharmaShield®, a system consisting of a plastic sheath around the vial, going from the reinforced non-PVC base to the vial seal and specifically developed to minimise occupation exposure to toxic residues.
Additionally, we ensure that before leaving our factories, 100% of our cytotoxic products undergo an extensive validated washing cycle and visual inspection. In conjunction, and based on our pharmaceutical expertise and best practices, our product packaging is designed to facilitate easy product identification and minimise the potential for errors when dispensing a drug.
